How Will I Know What's Happening With My Build?

Direct Answer: ‍

At Transform Homes, you don't have to chase anyone to know where your build is at. You get a written update with photos every week, site meetings at least fortnightly, and 24/7 access to your Gantt chart, upcoming activities and the decisions we need from you.

Why do so many homeowners worry about being left in the dark?

It's one of the first questions we're asked. Most people have heard a story about a builder who stopped returning calls, never shared a timeline or made it hard to get on site.

When you can't see what's happening, small questions turn into real worries. Is the build on track? When do I need to choose my tiles? Why was nobody on site today?

At Transform Homes, we build on the principle that the best homes come from a genuine partnership between you and us. That means you're kept informed, involved in decisions and able to see your project's progress whenever you want to.

How does Transform Homes keep me updated during my build?

We use four main touchpoints, and they work together. Each one gives you a different view of your project, from a weekly snapshot to the full live schedule.

What's included in the weekly update?

Every week, you'll receive a written update with site photos, commentary on progress and the latest schedule activities. Plenty of our clients share the photos with friends and family as the build takes shape.

How often will I meet my builder on site?

Site meetings are held at least fortnightly, or more often as agreed. We walk through the progress together, go over anything that needs reviewing and work through upcoming decisions with the full picture in front of you. If you'd like to visit outside these meetings, just check with your Project Supervisor first. Our blog Can I Still Access My Site During Construction? explains how site access works.

Can I see my build schedule and progress online?

Yes. From day one of construction, you have 24/7 access to our project management system, Buildertrend, from your phone, laptop or iPad. It includes:

  • Your Gantt chart, showing the planned schedule and whether activities are ahead or behind
  • Upcoming activities on site
  • Key decisions we need from you, and when
  • Site photos and weekly updates
  • Project documentation, invoices and variations
  • Messaging with our team

Can I contact my Project Supervisor directly?

Yes. Your Project Supervisor is directly reachable by phone, app messaging or email throughout your build.

What does communication look like at a glance?

‍

Site meeting At least fortnightly, or as agreed An on-site walk-through, items to review and upcoming decisions Attend, and bring your questions
Project management system (Buildertrend) 24/7 Gantt chart, upcoming activities, decisions required, documents, invoices and variations Check for decisions due

After handover As needed Direct contact with your Project Supervisor, Greg or Clive Get in touch if any issues arise

How will I know when a decision is needed from me?

Your Gantt chart shows owner decisions and owner-supplied items alongside the build activities. For example, if you're supplying your own tiles, the schedule shows when they're needed so you have time to order them.

If you'd like to change something during construction, that's called a variation. Here's how it works:

  1. You tell us about the change you'd like to make.
  2. We assess its impact against the work already completed.
  3. You receive a written quote covering any cost and time impact.
  4. Nothing proceeds until you've reviewed it and given written sign-off.
  5. The approved variation is tracked in Buildertrend with the rest of your project records.

Our blog How Do I Manage Design Changes During My Build? covers this in more detail.

Why does a partnership approach lead to better builds?

When you can see what's happening, decisions get made promptly and with full information. Questions are raised early, while they're still easy to answer, rather than once work has moved on.

It also means there are no surprises hiding in the background. If the schedule shifts, you'll see it in your live Gantt chart and we'll talk it through with you at your next site meeting or sooner.

That partnership starts at your very first meeting with Greg or Clive and continues right through to handover, when you receive your full handover pack. It doesn't stop there. After handover, you can still contact your Project Supervisor, Greg or Clive about any issues that arise with your home.

We apply this same approach on every Transform Homes project, whether it's a new home, knockdown rebuild, bathroom, renovation or extension. We build across Melbourne's inner, northern and north-eastern suburbs, outer growth corridors and semi-rural areas, from Fitzroy, Coburg and Ivanhoe through to Eltham, Yarrambat and Hurstbridge.
