Can I Still Access My Site During Construction?

Direct Answer
Yes, you can visit your site during construction. Regular fortnightly site visits are a normal part of a Transform Homes build, with additional visits arranged when needed. Access depends on your site, the stage of construction and the work underway, so always check with your Project Supervisor before entering.
It's one of the most common questions we get, and it's a fair one. It's your home, and watching it take shape is one of the best parts of building. Here's how site access works on a Transform Homes project, and why the answer isn't the same for everyone.
Why does site access differ from one build to the next?
Every site is different. At Transform Homes, we build across Melbourne's inner, northern and north-eastern suburbs, as well as outer growth corridors and semi-rural areas. Many of our projects are on sloping or elevated blocks, and the scope and site conditions affect how safely people can move around.
On some projects, clients can keep living on site while webuild. On others, they'll need to move out for the duration. The main factorsare:
Can I keep living on site while my home is being built?
Sometimes, yes. It depends on the factors above, particularly the scope of work and whether we can keep a safe separation between the construction area and your living space. Where living on site isn't practical or safe, you'll need to plan to move out for the build. It's worth raising this early in the planning stage so you can make arrangements with confidence.
How often can I visit my site during construction?
Regular fortnightly site visits are a normal part of building with Transform Homes. They're a great way to see your home progress, talk through what's been done and understand what's coming up next.
If you need to visit in between, for example to check a selection or look at something specific, we can arrange an additional visit when needed. Just keep in mind that a construction site is an active workplace. What's safe to walk through one week may not be the next, depending on the stage of the build and the work being carried out.
How do I arrange a safe site visit?
- Keep to your regular fortnightly visits. These are the best way to stay across progress throughout your build.
- Need an extra visit? Contact your Project Supervisor. Let them know why you'd like to visit and when, before you arrive.
- Agree on a suitable time. Your supervisor can suggest a time when it's safe and there's something worthwhile to see.
- Follow any safety instructions. Your supervisor will let you know about any requirements or areas to avoid.
- Stay out of restricted or fenced-off areas. These are there for a reason, even if no one is working at the time.
Why do I need to check before entering the site?
Safety is always our priority. Conditions on site change constantly: excavations open up, materials are delivered, and trades come and go. Checking in first means we can make sure your visit is safe, and that you see your home at its best rather than walking into the middle of a hazardous task.
