How Does Communication Work During My 3-4 Week Bathroom Renovation?

Direct Answer

On a Transform Homes bathroom renovation, you still get weekly written updates with photos and 24/7 access to your Gantt chart. Because a typical bathroom takes around three to four weeks and you're usually living at home, we'll also catch up informally every day or two as work progresses.

Why is communication different on a bathroom renovation?

Two things set a bathroom apart from a larger build: time and where you are.

A typical bathroom renovation takes around three to four weeks. Each stage moves quickly, so a question left until the next fortnightly meeting could already be too late.

Many of our bathroom clients also stay living at home while the work happens - especially when they have an alternative ensuite or bathroom available.  You're close to the job every day, and that makes regular, easy conversations far more useful than waiting for a formal meeting.

The exact timeframe depends on the scope of your bathroom, and we'll talk it through with you at your first meeting.

How does Transform Homes keep me updated during a bathroom renovation?

The same systems we use on a new home apply to your bathroom. What changes is how often we talk in person.

Do I still get weekly written updates?

Yes. Every week, you'll receive a written update with site photos, commentary on progress and the latest schedule activities. It gives you a clear record of where the job is at, even when you've been home the whole time.

Can I still see my Gantt chart?

Yes. You have 24/7 access to our project management system, Buildertrend, from your phone, laptop or iPad. Your Gantt chart shows each stage of your bathroom, upcoming activities, key decisions needed from you, and whether work is ahead or behind. How often will I talk to the project supervisor in person?

Usually every day or two. Because you're at home and the job moves quickly, we'll catch up informally as work progresses. It's a quick chat about what's been done, what's happening next and anything you'd like to raise.

Can I contact my Project Supervisor directly?

Yes. Your Project Supervisor is directly reachable by phone, app messaging or email throughout your renovation.

How does communication on a bathroom compare with a larger build?

‍

Comparison Bathroom renovation New home, extension or larger renovation
Typical timeframe Around 3–4 weeks Assessed for each project
Living at home during works Usually Depends on the project
Weekly written update with photos Yes Yes
24/7 Gantt chart access in Buildertrend Yes Yes
In-person updates Informal catch-ups every day or two Site meetings at least fortnightly
Direct contact with your Project Supervisor Yes Yes
Contact after handover Yes Yes

How will I know when a decision is needed for my bathroom?

Your Gantt chart shows decisions and owner-supplied items alongside the work. For example, if you're supplying your own tiles, tapware or vanity, the schedule shows when they're needed so you have time to order them.

Messaging within Buildertrend is a common way to stay on top of your selections, such as tiles and plumbing fixtures and fittings. It keeps questions, answers and confirmations in one place, alongside the rest of your project records.

On a short job, timing matters. The best approach is to finalise your selections early, before work starts, so nothing holds up the next stage.

If you'd like to change something once work is underway, that's called a variation. Here's how it works:

  1. You tell us about the change you'd like to make.
  2. We assess its impact against the work already completed.
  3. You receive a written quote covering any cost and time impact.
  4. Nothing proceeds until you've reviewed it and given written sign-off.
  5. The approved variation is tracked in Buildertrend with the rest of your project records.

Why does Transform Homes take this approach on bathrooms?

We build on the principle that the best results come from a genuine partnership between you and us. A bathroom may be a smaller project, but it's still your home, and you deserve the same clear view of what's happening.

Regular catch-ups mean questions get answered quickly and decisions are made with full information. If the schedule shifts, you'll see it in your live Gantt chart and we'll talk it through with you.

That partnership continues after handover. You can still contact your Project Supervisor, Greg or Clive about any issues that arise with your bathroom.

Transform Homes renovates bathrooms across Melbourne's inner, northern and north-eastern suburbs, outer growth corridors and semi-rural areas, from Fitzroy, Coburg and Ivanhoe through to Eltham, Yarrambat and Hurstbridge. See Where We Build for our full service area.
